Guwahati, Light of the East, the most striking feature of Guwahati (also spelt as Gauhati), is the Brahmaputra, whose swollen sandy channel is so wide that the far shore is often rendered invisible. Of its many mysterious temples, 'Kamakhya' and 'Navagraha' both occupy commanding positions on hilltops while 'Umananda' sits on a small island in the middle of the Brahmaputra. Shillong is one of the most popular tourist destinations. It was the capital of the erstwhile British provincial state of Assam, and remained so even after independence.Shillong derives its name from the peak of the same name and there are many legends surrounding this name.
Day 01: Guwahati Airport/Railway Station to Shillong
Welcome on arrival at Airport/Railway Station meet our representative and transfer to your hotel (25Km).Rest of the day at your discretion to explore this gateway city to northeast India and the riverfront of mighty Brahmaputra River. In the evening set out on a River cruise to watch the sun go down the river and see yourself why the river is locally called 'Luit'- colour of blood(Optional). Overnight at Guwahati.
Day 02: Guwahati to Nameri
Early in the morning drive for the Nameri National Park (275km), the last house of White winged Wood Duck along with many other rare species. After lunch Elephant Ride (Optional). Accommodation will be in the thatched hut in the Eco Camp; adjacent to the Nameri National Park. The Eco Camp itself offers a golden opportunity to live with the nature. Overnight at Eco Camp Nameri.
Day 03: Nameri to Bomdilla
After breakfast get set for a thrilling and adventurous journey to Bomdilla (125 km). After entry formalities at Balukpung we enter Arunachal Pradesh, bounty of unending natural beauty. Driving for 20 minutes through curly roads overlooking the dancing 'Bhoroli' river you will arrive at Tipi, where lies the Orchidarium, a glass house having 7500 orchids. We drive on to Bomdilla. On reaching Bomdilla check in to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 04: Bomdilla Sightseeing & transfer to Tawang
Early morning, we will visit the upper and the lower 'Gompa' (Buddhist Monastery) at Bomdilla. After a leisurely breakfast we depart for Tawang (190km, 6 hrs), the blessed land of Monpa's. Check in at the hotel at Tawang for overnight stay. In the night you can see illuminated Tawang Monastery.
Day 05: Tawang sightseeing
After breakfast, visit 350years old Buddhist monastery, locally known as Gompa, which seemed to be suspended from heaven in an equally ethereal space. Also visit the nunneries locally called Ani Gompa and Urgelling Monastery, 460 years old Monastery established by lama Urghen Sangpo Bhumthang. It is also the birthplace of His holiness 6th Dalai Lama. Overnight at Tawang.
Day 06: Tawang to Nameri
Morning after breakfast we will drive to Nameri (300 km).The Eco Camp itself offers a golden opportunity to live with the nature. Over night and Dinner at Eco – Camp Nameri.
Day 07: Nameri to Guwahati
Early morning drive to Guwahati (275 km), the gateway to the places of interest and beauty with varied offerings of its own.Visit Kamakhya Temple; where tantricism is still practiced, Kalakshetra for a Glimpse of Assamese culture & tradition, Overnight at Guwahati.
Day 08: Guwahati to Airport (25 Km)/Railway Station
After breakfast drive to the airport or Railway Station to catch your onward flight or Train.
