Ladakh, a part of Jammu & Kashmir State in north of India consisting of two districts Leh and Kargil. Leh with an area of 45110 Sq Km makes it largest district in the country in terms of area.
Leh India is one of the favorite tourist destinations located in the northernmost parts of the country. Lapped in the snow-covered fringes of the Himalayas, Leh India has been the center of Tibeto-Buddhist culture since ages. Its colorful gompas have attracted the devout Buddhists from all over the globe. Besides, it is also a favorite hiking locale and is known for some of the best hikes in India.
In geological terms, this is a young land, formed only a few million years ago by the buckling and folding of the earth's crust as the Indian sub-continent pushed with irresistible force against the immovable mass of Asia. Its basic contours, uplifted by these unimaginable tectonic movements, have been modified over the millennia by the opposite process of erosion, sculpted into the form we see today by wind and water.
Day 01: Delhi / Leh
Meeting assistance on arrival & transfer to hotel. Full day for acclimatization which is 3500 mtrs. Above the sea level. In the in the evening short walk around the Leh bazaar. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Leh-Monesteries
Day excursion to the famous monasteries, it is interesting to visit early in the morning to enjoying the praying ceremony at Thiksey monastery. Continue drive to Hemis monastery which is one of the famous monastery of the Ladakh region. On the way back visit to Shey palace. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Leh-Alchi-Uletokpo (75 kms.)
Leave for Uletokpo camping which is one of themost beautiful camping in the Ladakh region on the way visit Spituk monastery which is just 5 kms. from Leh town.continue drive to Alchi monastery is the only monastery in the Ladakh on the flat ground. By the lunch time we will reach to the Uletokpo. Evening enjoy to sit on the bank of the rivercoming down from the Ridzong side. Dinner & overnight at camp.
Day 04: Uletokpo-Lamayuru-Leh (180 kms.)
Leave Uletokpo for Leh by surface, enroute visit Lamayuri & Khaltsi. From here another 22 kms. drive wll take you to Lamayuru. The oldest & spectacularly set Lamayuru monastery founded in the 10th century. Visit the monastery . In the late afternoon drive back to Leh which will take about 4/5 hours drive, on the way back we stop at magnetic hill. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Leh-Khardongla pass-Leh (85 kms.)
After breakfast full day excursion to Khardongla pass which is the highest motarable pass in the world 5600 mtrs. and has been recorded in the Gunnies book of world records. At the top enjoy the nature beauty of snow capped mountain. In the evening back to the hotel. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Leh-Pangong lake-leh (290 kms.)
Leave early morning 5 A.M to Pangong lake through Changla pass 5486 mtrs. while asending Changla pass enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the villages below the pass. After crossing the pass halt for picnic lunch at Tsoltak, the summer pasture land of the Yaks. Arrive Durbuk & from there a drive takes you to the western shore of the lake. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the lake. The famous blue blackish lake of Pangong is 5/6 kms. wide & over 144 kms. long with half of its running the other side of the “Indo China Border”.One rarely feels so close to the nature & environment & the scenery is unforgettable. In the late afternoon drive back to Leh. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Leh-Delhi
Transfer in time to the airport to connect onwards destination flight.
